She laid at the edge of an ocean, whimpering in the sand. She cried to herself, out of pity, that she would die like this, alone and insignificant, stripped of the pretension that made her human. She could hear her bones disintegrating beneath her and became more and more impotent as the sloth ate away at her muscles. She could feel herself leaving her body and started to scream, "No! I'm still alive!" over and over as she continued to fade away.
